The U.S. Silver Coin Melt Value Calculator, located below, can be used to determine the total silver value and total silver content of a single United States issued silver coin or a combination of several different types and quantities of U.S. silver coins. The silver coins calculator only shows what the silver content in U.S. coins is worth (intrinsic value), and will not show any numismatic (collector) or base metal value.

Use the silver coin calculator to figure how much the silver in U.S. coins is worth, or to set a max bid on a silver coin auction based on the U.S. coins silver content. (Instructions Below)

Silver coin price calculator only figures total silver value and weight. Does not include any copper or manganese value and weight.
Resultant values will be rounded to two or more decimal places depending on length.
* Some 1942 nickels do not contain silver. The 35% silver varieties all have an extra large mintmark above the dome of Monticello.
** Not all Eisenhower dollars contain silver. The 40% silver varieties were only minted in San Francisco, although not all Eisenhowers with an S mintmark are silver either. Check the edge of the coin. If it shows a copper center, then it does not contain any silver.

How to use the U.S. Silver Coin Melt Value Calculator.

Enter the total quantity of coins for each type of silver coin in the entire coin lot. Enter your numbers in the corresponding text boxes to the right of each silver coin description (blue link). As an alternative, you can simply click on the silver coin's picture, or its link, to increase the value in its text box by 1. The silver coin value calculator will automatically update the Total Silver Value (in red), whenever a change is made to the number of silver coins.

The Total Silver Value is calculated based on the U.S. Dollar amount specified in the Silver Price text box. You could also use one of the other major world currencies available in the drop-down menu located underneath the prices. The default price is updated frequently during normal trading hours. You can change the Silver Price to represent the amount you'd like to pay per ounce for the silver content in any assortment of U.S. silver coins. This will help you to figure the maximum bid you could enter for an online silver coin auction.

In addition to the Total Silver Value (in red), the junk silver coin value calculator will also figure a Bid and Ask price based on the value displayed in the Price Spread text box. This value defaults to 5%, but can be changed if you wish. The silver Bid and Ask prices are shown in the lower tier of the silver results box, for those who have an interest in them.

The U.S. silver coin calculator figures total silver value and total silver content based on the amount of silver contained in uncirculated silver coins that have no wear. A circulated silver coin, which does have some wear, will not contain as much silver. You may want to indicate a percentage of that wear in the "Amount of Wear" text box. A value greater than the default of 0 (zero), will reduce the total silver value and total silver weight results accordingly.
