The U.S. Gold Coin Melt Value Calculator, which is located below, can be used to figure the
total gold value and total gold content of a single pre-1934 United States gold coin or a mixed
lot of different types and quantities of pre-1934 U.S. gold coins. The gold coin calculator will
only display what the gold in your 90% gold coins is worth (intrinsic value), and will not
determine any numismatic (collector) or base metal value.
Use the gold coin calculator to discover how much the gold in your coins is worth, or to set a
max bid on a gold coin auction based on its gold content melt value.

How to use the U.S. Gold Coin Melt Value Calculator.
Enter the total quantity of coins for each type of gold coin in the entire coin lot. Enter your numbers in the corresponding
text boxes to the right of each gold coin description (blue link). You could also just click on the gold coin’s picture,
or its link, to increase the value in its text box by 1. The calculator will automatically update the Total Gold Value
(in red), whenever the number of gold coins has been changed.
The Total Gold Value is computed based on the U.S. Dollar amount shown in the Gold Price
text box. The default price is updated periodically throughout the trading day. You can adjust
the Gold Price to reflect the amount you'd prefer to pay per ounce for the gold content in
any assortment of U.S. gold coins. This can help you to figure the maximum bid you could post
for an online gold coin auction.
In addition to the Total Gold Value (in red), the gold coin calculator will also figure a Bid and Ask price based on the value shown in
the Price Spread text box. This value defaults to 5%, but can be changed if you like. The gold Bid and Ask prices are displayed in the lower
area of the gold results box, for those who would like to use them.
The U.S. gold coin calculator indicates total gold value and total gold content based on the
measure of gold contained in uncirculated gold coins that do not have any wear. A circulated
gold coin, which does show some wear, will not contain as much gold. You might want to enter a
percentage of that wear in the "Amount of Wear" text box. An amount greater than the
default value of 0 (zero), will adjust the total gold value and total gold weight results
accordingly.
