The U.S. Gold Coin Melt Value Calculator, shown below, will figure the total gold value and total
gold content of a single pre-1934 United States gold coin, or a combination of several different types and
quantities of pre-1934 U.S. gold coins. This application can only compute what the gold content, of your coins,
is worth (intrinsic value), and is not able to determine any numismatic (collector) value.
You may use the calculator to see what your coins are worth, or to figure a max bid for any online coin auction,
based on the price you’d pay for an ounce of actual gold.
(Instructions Below)
The coins featured in this application are all pre-1934 United States gold coinage. If
you’re looking to figure the total gold value of modern United States gold bullion coins, then use the
U.S. Gold Bullion Melt Value Calculator.
For all other gold items, use our generic

How to use the U.S. Gold Coin Melt Value Calculator.
Enter the total quantity of coins for each type of gold coin in the entire coin lot. Enter your numbers in the corresponding
text boxes to the right of each gold coin description (blue link). You could also just click on the gold coin’s picture,
or its link, to increase the value in its text box by 1. The calculator will automatically update the Total Gold Value
(in red), whenever the number of gold coins has been changed.
The Total Gold Value is calculated based on the U.S. Dollar amount displayed in the Gold Price text box. The default price is updated
periodically throughout the trading day. You can change the Gold Price to reflect the amount you’d wish to pay per ounce, for the gold
contained in any combination of U.S. gold coins. This can help you to figure the maximum bid you could enter, for an online gold coin auction.
In addition to the Total Gold Value (in red), the gold coin calculator will also figure a Bid and Ask price based on the value shown in
the Price Spread text box. This value defaults to 5%, but can be changed if you like. The gold Bid and Ask prices are displayed in the lower
area of the gold results box, for those who would like to use them.
The gold coin calculator figures total gold value and total gold content based on the amount of gold contained in uncirculated gold
coins that have no wear. A circulated gold coin, that does have some wear, will not contain as much gold. You may want to enter a
percentage of that wear in the Amount of wear text box. An amount greater than the default value of 0 (zero), will decrease the total gold value and
total gold weight results accordingly.
