The Platinum Melt Value Calculator, displayed below, will figure the total platinum value and
total platinum weight of a single platinum coin, round, bar or ingot; or a combination of several
different types and quantities of platinum items. This application can only compute what the
platinum content, of your items, is worth (intrinsic value), and is not able to determine any
collector (numismatic) value.
You may use the platinum calculator to find how much your platinum items are worth, or to figure your max bid on any
online platinum bullion auction, based on the price you wish to pay per ounce of actual platinum.
(Instructions Below)
There are also melt value calculators available to figure the total precious metals value of your
Gold,
Silver, and
Palladium items;
as well as U.S. Silver and
U.S. Gold coins.
More applications will be added to this website on a regular basis. Be sure to check back often, or find out how to stay
updated when new apps, features and resources are added.
How to use the Platinum Melt Value Calculator.
Enter the total amount of coins, rounds, bars or ingots for each platinum item, based on its actual platinum weight.
Enter your numbers in the text boxes located directly to the right of that item’s corresponding unit of weight. You could also
just click on that row’s platinum weight image, or its link, to increase the value in its text box by 1. The calculator
will automatically update the Total Platinum Value (in red), whenever a change is made to the number of platinum items.
The Total Platinum Value is calculated based on the U.S. Dollar amount displayed in the Platinum Price text box. The
default price is updated periodically throughout the trading day. You may change the Platinum Price to reflect how much
you’d like to pay per ounce, for the platinum content of any combination of platinum items. This will help you to
determine the maximum bid you could enter, for an online platinum bullion auction.
In addition to the Total Platinum Value (in red), the platinum calculator will also compute a Bid and Ask price based on
the amount displayed in the Price Spread text box. This amount defaults to 5%, but can be changed if you wish. The platinum Bid
and Ask prices are shown in the lower tier of the platinum results box, for those who have an interest in them.
If your platinum item is alloyed with another metal, you can use the Bullion Purity text box to adjust accordingly. Simply
enter the item’s percentage of pure platinum by weight, and all resultant values will be multiplied by that percentage value.
The platinum calculator figures total platinum value and total platinum weight based on the amount of platinum content
in items that have no wear from handling. A platinum coin or round, that does have some wear, will not contain
as much platinum. You may want to enter a percentage of that wear in the Amount of Wear text box. A value greater than the
default of 0 (zero), will decrease the total platinum value and total platinum weight results accordingly.
