The Platinum Melt Value Calculator, shown below, can tell you the total platinum value of a
single platinum coin, round, bar, or ingot; or a combination of different types and quantities of
platinum items. The platinum value is figured based on the total weight of platinum content. The
platinum calculator only shows what the platinum metal is worth (intrinsic value), but not any
numismatic (collector) value of your platinum bullion.
Use the platinum calculator to learn how much your platinum bullion is worth, or to figure what
you are looking to pay based on the spot price for an ounce of platinum.

How to use the Platinum Melt Value Calculator.
Enter the total amount of coins, rounds, bars or ingots for each platinum item, based on its actual platinum weight.
Enter your numbers in the text boxes located directly to the right of that item’s corresponding unit of weight. You could also
just click on that row’s platinum weight image, or its link, to increase the value in its text box by 1. The calculator
will automatically update the Total Platinum Value (in red), whenever a change is made to the number of platinum items.
The Total Platinum Value is determined based on the U.S. Dollar amount provided in the
Platinum Price text box. The default price is updated periodically throughout the trading
day. You may change the Platinum Price to specify how much you'd care to pay per ounce for
the platinum contained in any combination of platinum items. This can help you to establish the
maximum bid you could provide for an online platinum bullion auction.
In addition to the Total Platinum Value (in red), the platinum calculator will also compute a Bid and Ask price based on
the amount displayed in the Price Spread text box. This amount defaults to 5%, but can be changed if you wish. The platinum Bid
and Ask prices are shown in the lower tier of the platinum results box, for those who have an interest in them.
If your platinum item is alloyed with another metal, you can use the Bullion Purity text box to adjust accordingly. Simply
enter the item’s percentage of pure platinum by weight, and all resultant values will be multiplied by that percentage value.
The platinum calculator tallies total platinum value and total platinum weight proportionate to
the measure of platinum content in items that haven't any wear from handling. A platinum
coin or round that does have some wear will not have as much platinum. You may want to fill in a
percentage of that wear in the "Amount of Wear" text box. A figure greater than the
default of 0 (zero), will decrease the total platinum value and total platinum weight results
accordingly.
